Give your skin some TLC with my top tips

My last blog looked at the importance of regular facials and this month I’d like to share my top tips for healthy skin.

As the temperatures are starting to drop and our heating goes on, our skin is exposed to different elements and needs some extra TLC. The party season is also fast approaching, so give your skin some attention now and enjoy the benefits when the festive season is in full swing!

When thinking about skin health, here are my top recommendations:

Diet
Most cases of bad skin come from the things we eat, so pay close attention to what you are putting into your body.  Avoid too much alcohol or fatty, processed foods.

If you want skin to look younger and more supple, drinking enough water is a must.  Drinking 8 glasses of water per day will flush out skin-sapping toxins and give you a natural glow.

Eat food rich in lutein which helps protect the skin from the inside out. Good sources of lutein are egg yolks & leafy dark green vegetables.  Also aim to eat foods that are high in antioxidants like berries, broccoli, leafy greens (kale, spinach) and tomatoes. Vitamin E is another must for skin health.  Add vegetable oils, wheat germ, nuts, seeds & olives to your diet for healthy, glowing skin.

Get your beauty sleep!
Beauty Sleep is real so make sure you get enough of it, as new skin cells grow over night and replace older ones.  Research suggests we should be aiming for 7-8 hours sleep per night. We recommend moisturising morning and evening. While you sleep, your skin renews itself, so give your cells a helping hand at night time!

Sun Damage
No matter your age, you need to protect your skin from the sun all year round. Not only can sun exposure lead to skin cancer, it will also cause dryness, sun spots, wrinkles and other visible signs of ageing.  Always use a moisturiser, sunscreen and cosmetics that contain SPF 15 or higher, even throughout the Autumn.

Skincare Routine
It sounds obvious but make sure you clean your face, then use toner, then moisturise to make the most of skincare products.  Exfoliate your face but don’t go overboard; once or twice a week is plenty for luminous skin.  Spend time finding the right skincare products for your skin.  I can help you with this from my range of gorgeous Tropic products. I only use Tropic products which are totally natural, organic, vegan and freshly produced in the UK, giving your skin a healthy, radiant look. You can come and try any products to suit your skin type. This leads nicely onto…

Regular Facials
Regular facials can eliminate the skin problems that many people get down about such as oily skin, clogged pores, puffiness, ruddiness and itchy skin. Facials will give you a healthier and balanced complexion, helping you to maintain your skin health. Regular facials can also slow the aging process, allowing healthier and more radiant skin and can reduce fine lines, age spots and relieve dehydrated skin. Most skin products can take up to 6-8 weeks to start to treat active skin cells, but by speeding up the renewal process with a facial you can make your skin products work faster and more effectively. I currently have some amazing offers on facials, with a 1 hour facial at £30 (normally £40) and a mini facial at £20 (normally £25).
